Artisan Partner, Beljoy

The story of Beljoy. Told by, the founder of Beljoy, Abby Clevenger.

My husband's family has had relationships in Haiti for over 40 years. He grew up going to Haiti and fell in love with the people. When he came back from a trip in 2014, he felt a strong burden to create opportunities for the Haitian people by providing them jobs and helping them become self sustaining.

My Journey with Mission Made

The summer before my last semester of college I decided that I wanted to gain more experience in the field of marketing. Being a Psychology major,...

Beyond the mountains, more mountains.

The Mission Made team was incredibly blessed to be a part of another incredible trip to Haiti alongside our friends at Haiti Awake this past June. Our Executive Director, Kaitlyn Hopfer, wrote about her experience in Haiti and the incredible things that she did on her trip through our Mission Made network.

In 5 short days I will be heading to Haiti with a team to spend time with our friends at Haiti Awake. There are tons of opportunities to go on short term trips to Haiti alongside various organizations but Mission Made partners directly with Haiti Awake because they provide us with the incredible opportunity to work alongside Haitians, encouraging long-term mutually beneficial relationships.

Haiti Awake operates a Children’s Home where they have focused on helping 13 beautiful children thrive in life through formal education, training, and development. Additionally, beyond the Children’s Home they are pro-active about conducting community bible studies and outreach. They have played an integral role in assisting in Hurricane Recovery efforts by distributing food, supplies, and water. We are committed and focused on helping Haiti Awake in their mission and we are grateful that YOUR purchases can help us do that.

Mission Made Exposure

Mission Made Exposure

In two short weeks, Mission Made Jewelry's founder and CEO, Ross Marino, as well as our project director, Kaitlyn Hopfer, will have the wonderful opportunity to lead a team of eight volunteers to Tabbarre, Port Au Prince, Haiti.  Since we get to work with so many wonderful organizations in many different parts of the world, the team has put a lot of thought into why Haiti is where they are lead to go.  More than 80% of Haitians live below the poverty line, and they have the highest percentage of orphans in the western hemisphere due to lack of economic resources.  When we discovered Haiti Awake, an organization run by Wilmington local Becky Graves, Haiti seemed like the clear choice.
