About the Artisan Group:
Hands Producing Hope is an organization that works with artisans from Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Coppey Abajo, Costa Rica; and Nkombo Island, Rwanda. They have a vision to see all people (regardless of gender, ethnicity, or geographical location) be afforded opportunities to have dignified and respectable work, and to provide for their families and flourish in their communities. They want to see a universal growth in an understanding of the impact an individual can make with their time, resources, and talents.
This specific product was made by artisans in a small, remote area in southern Costa Rica named Coppey Abajo. The location of their reservation makes finding employment difficult. These individuals use traditional crafting techniques including paper bead rolling, basket weaving, and hand beading. Hands Producing Hope has created a program that provides a market that showcases a mix of traditional and modern artisan handiwork that relates to their culture, encourages continued education, and helps develop skills that will equip those in their program long after they leave.
With each product you can expect slight variations as a part of the artisan-crafted charm.
